Maxey is a small village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Peterborough, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, set on the edge of the low-lying Fens and close to the River Welland. Its position between Peterborough and historic Stamford gives it a quietly rural character while still being within commuting distance of larger towns.
Historically agricultural, the village retains a strong farming presence alongside a close-knit community life centred on the church, village hall and occasional fetes; surrounding marshes and wetland reserves are locally important for wildlife and reflect the long history of fenland drainage and management in the area.
