Dormanstown is an electoral ward in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, in the Tees Valley of North‑East England. It lies close to the North Sea and the mouth of the River Tees, forming part of the suburban ribbon between Redcar and Middlesbrough, and is primarily a residential area with local shops, schools and parks that serve a fairly compact community.
Historically it was developed as housing for workers by the Dorman Long company and still carries that industrial heritage - the firm went on to contribute to major engineering projects overseas. Like much of Teesside, the ward experienced economic shifts after the decline of heavy industry, and recent years have seen focused regeneration and community efforts to refresh housing, services and local amenities while retaining a strong working‑class identity.
