Princes End is an electoral ward in the metropolitan borough of Sandwell, on the western edge of the Black Country conurbation and close to Tipton and West Bromwich, within easy commuting distance of Birmingham. The ward sits in a tightly knit urban landscape of terraced streets, former industrial sites and canal and railway corridors that reflect its heavy‑industry past.
Historically dominated by coal, ironworking and factory employment, Princes End has been through waves of post‑industrial change and local regeneration, with pockets of new housing, light industry and community initiatives alongside areas still facing economic and social challenges. Its character is very much shaped by Black Country heritage and a mixture of long‑standing local loyalties and newer commuter households.
