Bilston sits to the south‑east of Wolverhampton in the heart of the Black Country, England. Historically it was a heavy‑industry town of foundries, coal pits and steelworks and is famous for its 18th–19th century enamelware - "Bilston enamels" remain a recognised part of its industrial heritage. Much of the old industrial landscape has given way to housing, retail and light industry as the area has adapted to post‑industrial change.
Today Bilston keeps a strong local identity and community life: the town centre market and the Bilston Craft Gallery (noted for collections reflecting local craft and enamel work) are focal points, and the area is served by modern transport links including the West Midlands Metro. Ongoing regeneration projects and local initiatives aim to balance conservation of that industrial past with new economic and cultural opportunities.
