Darlaston is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall in the West Midlands of England, and sits within the industrial heartland known as the Black Country. Its landscape and street pattern still reflect a 19th and early 20th‑century manufacturing past - coal mining, foundries and lock‑and‑chain making were once dominant - and the town is crossed by historic canals such as the Walsall Canal that carried goods in the industrial era.
Today Darlaston is a largely residential and light‑industrial area with ongoing regeneration projects, local shops and community facilities, plus parks and canal towpaths that are popular for walks. Good road links give easy access to neighbouring centres such as Walsall and Birmingham, and the town retains a strong working‑class identity and community spirit visible in its social clubs and civic life.
