Catcott and Edington are neighbouring villages on the Somerset Levels in Somerset, England, set in a famously low-lying landscape of drained wetlands, rhynes and seasonal flood meadows. The surrounding shallow pools, reservoirs and nature-rich grasslands make the area notable for birdlife and wetland plants, and the open, flat character of the Levels gives the villages a quiet, pastoral feel.
Both settlements grew from medieval farming communities and retain historic churches and traditional farmsteads; agriculture - dairy, arable and pasture - remains important, alongside a modest amount of wildlife tourism and commuting to nearby towns. Local life is small-scale and community-focused, with village halls, pubs and events, and the long history of drainage and land management is still evident in the pattern of fields, lanes and drainage channels.
