Ashcott is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, sitting on the edge of the Somerset Levels close to the winding course of the River Brue. Its low-lying landscape of drained marshes and pastures gives the area a strong rural character and a close relationship with the water-managed environment that defines the Levels.
Historically the local economy has been driven by agriculture, dairy and peat‑related activity, and the community still revolves around a parish church and village facilities while many people commute to nearby towns such as Bridgwater and Glastonbury. The village also retains memories of its railway-era past and benefits from easy access to wildlife-rich wetlands that attract birdwatchers and walkers.
