Stawell is a small, quiet parish in Somerset, set among rolling farmland on the western edge of the county and within easy reach of the Quantock Hills and the county town of Taunton. The landscape is typical of rural Somerset, with lanes, hedgerows and pockets of woodland that make it popular with walkers and birdwatchers.
Historically the community grew up around farming and a handful of country houses and a medieval parish church, and agriculture still shapes local life although many residents now commute to nearby towns. The village retains a strong local identity with occasional village events, historic cottages and listed buildings that hint at its long-established agricultural and social history.
