Crowcombe is a small village and parish tucked into the western edge of the Quantock Hills AONB in Somerset, roughly ten miles west of Taunton. The surrounding hills are dotted with ancient burial mounds and hillforts, making it a popular spot for walkers and anyone interested in prehistoric and rural landscapes; the parish sits between inland lanes and the nearby Exmoor/Minehead coast, giving it a quietly dramatic setting.
The village has a strong historic flavour: an imposing Georgian country house, Crowcombe Court, sits within the parish and there is a medieval parish church and village architecture that reflect centuries of rural life. Economically and socially it remains largely agricultural but benefits from tourism - heritage trains at Crowcombe Heathfield on the West Somerset Railway, wedding and holiday business at the big houses, and outdoor recreation all help sustain a small, close-knit community.
