High Ham is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, situated a few miles east of Langport on the edge of the Somerset Levels beneath the Polden Hills. The landscape is characteristically low-lying and agricultural, and the parish has ancient roots - nearby Low Ham is famous for the discovery of a Roman villa and mosaic, while the local parish church shows medieval fabric that hints at centuries of continuous settlement.
Today High Ham remains largely rural with mixed farming and a community that combines long-standing village life with commuters working in larger towns; there is a modest social life centred on the church and village hall, seasonal fĂȘtes and conservation-minded activities for walkers and birdwatchers drawn to the Levels. The combination of historic interest and accessible countryside gives it a quietly distinctive local character.
