Aller is a compact village and civil parish in Somerset, sitting on the edge of the low-lying Somerset Levels just west of Langport. It lies close to the course of the River Parrett, and the surrounding landscape is characterised by drained peat and clay moors that have shaped local farming and settlement patterns for centuries.
Historically tied to wetland reclamation and small-scale agriculture, Aller remains a largely rural community where dairy and arable farming are important to the local economy. The village retains a sense of history in its older cottages and parish institutions, and the nearby Levels attract birdwatchers and walkers interested in the distinctive natural habitat and seasonal floods.
