Isle Abbotts is a small, quietly attractive village set on slightly raised ground in the Somerset Levels of Somerset, England, lying near the course of the River Isle. Its name reflects historic ownership by the abbot of Glastonbury Abbey, and that medieval connection is still visible in the village’s compact layout and a parish church with older fabric and listed features.
Today the community is largely agricultural, surrounded by drained peat and pasture that supports dairy and arable farming, with a few traditional cottages and farmsteads rather than large commercial centres. Social life tends to revolve around the church, village events and neighbouring market towns; the long history of land drainage and monastic ownership gives the place a quietly distinctive historic character within the Levels landscape.
