Norton St. Philip is a large village and civil parish in Somerset, set in the Frome valley between Bath and Frome at the edge of the Mendip Hills. The village sits among rolling agricultural countryside beside the River Frome and lies close to the route of the Monarch's Way long‑distance footpath, making it a popular stop for walkers as well as a commuter base for nearby towns.
It has a notably historic core, with honey‑coloured stone houses, thatched cottages, a medieval church and an old coaching inn at its heart; the village was the scene of a skirmish during the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685. Local life mixes farming, small‑scale tourism and village services, and a strong community spirit is visible in the pubs, clubs and occasional village events that sustain its rural character.
