The village and civil parish of Winsham sits in south Somerset, England, close to the market towns of Chard and Crewkerne and on the northern fringes of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Rolling farmland, hedged lanes and a network of footpaths make it popular with walkers, and the compact village centre contains several listed buildings together with the medieval St Stephen's Church.
Historically the parish developed from agriculture and small-scale rural trades in the 18th and 19th centuries; today the local economy remains largely agricultural with many residents commuting to nearby towns. A noticeable community spirit survives in village groups, a hall and local events through the year, giving the place a strong social life despite its rural setting.
