Hixon is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Stafford, in Staffordshire, England. It sits on the rural plain between Stafford and Rugeley, with open farmland and easy road links to the larger towns and the wider West Midlands, making it a largely residential and agricultural community with countryside within easy reach, including the woodlands of Cannock Chase not far away.
The village has a close-knit community feel with the usual village amenities and a parish council, and it is perhaps best known nationally for the tragic 1968 Hixon rail crash at a nearby automatic level crossing, an incident that led to important changes in railway safety. Local life is otherwise typical of rural Staffordshire, with a mix of farming, small businesses and commuters who travel to nearby towns for work.
