The Dukinfield Stalybridge ward sits on the eastern edge of the Tameside borough in Greater Manchester, straddling the interface between the towns of Dukinfield and Stalybridge. It mixes dense terraces and suburban housing, following the River Tame and historic canal corridors, with the Pennines foothills rising to the east and good rail and road links into Manchester.
Historically the area expanded with 19th century textiles and engineering, and surviving mill buildings and canal infrastructure give the neighbourhood a strong industrial flavour. Today the local economy blends small businesses, light industry and commuters, while parks, towpaths and active community groups contribute to a sense of local identity focused on heritage, green-space improvements and transport regeneration.
