Burghfield and Mortimer is a largely rural ward in West Berkshire, sitting to the west of Reading in England. It covers the villages and commons around the Kennet valley and rolling Berkshire countryside, with good road links to the M4 and A4 and a railway station at Mortimer on the Reading–Basingstoke line, so many residents commute to nearby towns while retaining a village feel.
The area mixes historic village centres and conservation areas with active community life - village halls, sports clubs, annual fêtes and local pubs - alongside agriculture and small businesses. It also contains one of the more locally controversial employers, the military-related depot at Burghfield, which has shaped local debates and employment for decades; overall the ward balances commuter housing, rural character and a noticeably strong community identity.
