Sulham is a small village and civil parish in West Berkshire, roughly five miles west of Reading and close to Pangbourne and Tilehurst. The landscape is gently rolling farmland punctuated by pockets of ancient mixed woodland, notably Sulham Woods, with the chalk-stream River Pang running nearby; the woods are especially striking in spring when bluebells carpet the floor.
The settlement has a long landed and agricultural history centred on the historic country estate of Sulham House and a small parish church, but today it mixes farming with a commuter population working across the Thames Valley. The estate, woodlands and riverside footpaths provide local recreational and conservation interest, while the quiet lanes and hedgerows give the place a distinctly rural character.
