Englefield is a small, largely rural civil parish in West Berkshire, in the south of England, lying a few miles west of Reading and within easy reach of the M4. The neighbourhood is dominated by the long-established Englefield House estate with its parkland and farmland, giving the parish a strong green character and a mix of agricultural, estate management and commuter influences as people travel into nearby towns for work.
The area has deep roots - it appears in early records and is traditionally associated with the ninth-century Battle of Englefield - and the house and estate remain focal points for local history and occasional filming or cultural events. Community life is small-scale and village-centred, shaped by the estate, historic buildings and the surrounding countryside rather than by large commercial development.
