Shrewton is a large village and civil parish in Wiltshire, sitting on the north‑west edge of Salisbury Plain. It functions as a local centre for surrounding hamlets, with shops, pubs, a primary school and community facilities; agriculture and local services are important to the economy and many people also commute to nearby towns or work on MOD training areas on the Plain.
The parish is surrounded by chalk downland scattered with prehistoric barrows and earthworks, and is within easy reach of famous ancient sites such as Stonehenge, giving the area a long and layered history. Social life is village‑centred, with annual events, sports clubs and a historic parish church, while the mix of rural farming, archaeology and military land gives Shrewton a distinctive character.
