Helensburgh and Lomond South

The Helensburgh and Lomond South ward sits on the southern edge of Argyll and Bute in west Scotland, centred on the coastal town of Helensburgh at the northern shore of the Firth of Clyde. It reaches inland towards the slopes above the Gareloch and the southern fringes of Loch Lomond, with dramatic views to the Arrochar Alps and a mix of town, suburban and rural landscapes.

Helensburgh grew as a Victorian seaside and commuter town and still shows that heritage in places such as Hill House; today the ward combines tourism, local shops and a significant commuting population. The nearby naval base at HMNB Clyde in Faslane is a notable local employer and influence, while boating, walking and other outdoor pursuits shape the area's cultural and economic life, producing an overall social mix of relatively affluent commuters, long-standing locals and small rural communities.
