Neilston is a large village on the rural fringe of East Renfrewshire in central Scotland, around a short drive south‑west of Glasgow. It sits in a pleasantly hilly setting with the conical landmark Neilston Pad rising above the village and the River Levern running through it, while nearby Loch Libo and surrounding farmland give a green, semi‑rural feel despite its commuter links to the city.
Historically a textile and mill town with weaving and bleaching works lining the river, Neilston has retained a strong local identity as mills have closed or been repurposed. Today it combines a mix of suburban housing and village amenities, active community groups, local sports clubs and traditional events such as village galas, while many residents commute into Glasgow for work.
