Oakley is a small village in west Fife, Scotland, lying a few miles to the west of Dunfermline and within commuting distance of Edinburgh. The village is set amid rolling farmland and small lochs - notably Loch Fitty nearby - and the landscape still shows traces of its industrial past alongside pockets of reclaimed woodland and open countryside.
Originally developed as a coal‑mining community in the 19th and early 20th centuries, Oakley retains a strong local identity with village amenities, clubs and a primary school, while many residents now travel to larger towns for work. The mix of housing, visible mining heritage and easy access to both rural walks and urban centres gives the place a quietly resilient, community‑focused character.
