Avoch is a small coastal village on the Black Isle in the council area of Highland, Scotland, sitting on the edge of the Moray Firth. It has a compact, picturesque harbour and narrow streets of traditional houses, with easy access to wildlife-watching - boat trips and nearby spots such as Chanonry Point make dolphin and seabird sightings a regular attraction.
Historically it grew as a fishing community and still retains that maritime character, but today the local economy mixes tourism, small businesses and people who commute to Inverness. It’s a popular base for gentle coastal walks and exploring the Black Isle’s villages and beaches, offering a quietly historic, community-focused feel rather than overtly touristy development.
