Bellshill is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, sitting roughly ten miles south‑east of Glasgow and near Motherwell. Part of the Greater Lanarkshire conurbation, it has good rail and road links which make it a practical commuter town while still retaining local shopping and light industrial areas.
Historically Bellshill grew up in the 19th century around coal mining and heavy industry, and like much of the area has undergone economic change and regeneration since those industries declined. Today it combines suburban housing, community facilities, active sports clubs and cultural groups, and a patchwork of industrial estates and retail parks, reflecting both its industrial past and its role in the modern commuter belt.
