Calderbank is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, sitting on the banks of the North Calder Water in the Central Belt and close to Airdrie. It grew up in the 19th century around ironworks, coal mining and the canals and railways that fed Lanarkshire’s heavy industry, so the landscape still shows hints of that past in viaducts, old mill buildings and canal remnants.
These days Calderbank is largely residential and popular with commuters because of straightforward links into Glasgow and Edinburgh, while local life retains a quiet, community feel and walking routes along the river and former industrial corridors keep the village connected to its industrial heritage.
