Glenboig in North Lanarkshire, Scotland is a small ex‑industrial village east of Glasgow and close to Coatbridge. It grew around 19th‑ and 20th‑century fireclay and brickworks - the local works produced refractory bricks that were widely used in heavy industry and became a defining part of the village’s identity.
Today Glenboig feels more like a commuter village with newer housing and a close‑knit community, while remnants of its industrial past and nearby greenspaces such as Gartcosh Moss hint at the transition from industry to conservation and suburban life; locals benefit from road and rail links into the surrounding towns and Glasgow.
