Glenmavis is a small village just east of Airdrie in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, sitting on the fringe of the Central Belt where suburban housing meets farmland and green corridors. Its compact size and position make it feel like a village while still being within easy reach of larger towns such as Coatbridge and the city of Glasgow, with convenient road and rail connections for commuters.
Historically the community grew up around coal mining and local heavy industry, and although most pits have long closed the village retains a working-class identity and active community life. Today Glenmavis is largely residential with local shops, schools and clubs, a few light industrial estates nearby and a patchwork of former industrial sites now used for housing or green space, giving it a mix of heritage and modern commuter-town character.
