Ashgill is a small village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, set on the rolling outskirts of the Clyde Valley a few miles from Larkhall and within easy commuting distance of Glasgow. Its position gives pleasant views over farmland and river valleys, and makes it a handy base for countryside walks while still being close to larger town services.
Like many settlements in the area, Ashgill grew through 19th‑century industry and mining and today is largely a residential community with a strong local identity, village facilities and small local businesses. The village retains traditional stone buildings and a quieter, community‑focused way of life, with many residents commuting to nearby towns for work while enjoying rural living on the fringe of the Central Belt.
