Larkhall is a former industrial town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, sitting on the edge of the scenic Clyde Valley roughly south‑east of Glasgow and not far from Hamilton. Its position between rolling farmland and the valley gives the town a semi‑rural feel while remaining firmly within commuting distance of the city, helped by the reinstated rail connection to Glasgow in 2005.
The town grew around coal mining, iron and textile work, and you still see Victorian and Edwardian sandstone streets and industrial-era remnants in the local fabric. There’s a strong local identity and community life - from the long-established junior football side to annual gala events - and recent regeneration has shifted the economy toward local services and commuter living while preserving many of the town’s historic features.
