Cornelly is a compact ward on the western edge of Bridgend county borough in Wales, sitting close to the M4 corridor and the Severn Estuary coast. It combines older village streets with newer housing and benefits from easy road and rail links that make it a commuter spot for nearby towns such as Bridgend and Port Talbot, while being only a few miles from coastal attractions around Porthcawl.
The area has a mixed industrial and residential character, with local businesses and light industry alongside community facilities and green spaces; the nearby Kenfig National Nature Reserve and sand-dune landscape are notable geographic features. Historically the locality has links to South Wales’ industrial past, but today community groups, local shops and modest employment sites shape its social and economic life.
