Pentyrch is a village and civil parish on the western edge of Cardiff in Wales, set on the lower slopes of the distinctive Garth hill and overlooking the Taff valley. The hill and nearby paths are popular with walkers, offering broad views across the city and out towards the Brecon Beacons, while the River Taff runs through the valley below.
Historically agricultural, Pentyrch still shows a mix of stone cottages and farmsteads but has become largely a commuter community for people working in Cardiff. It retains a strong village feel with a primary school, village hall, local shops and active clubs and sports teams, and is noted for its community events and countryside setting despite ongoing development pressures.
