Rhyl is a coastal town and community in Denbighshire, on the North Wales coast where the mouth of the River Clwyd meets a long sweep of sandy beach. It grew up as a Victorian seaside resort, and the seafront and promenade still reflect that holiday-town character, with a mix of traditional seaside architecture and modern visitor facilities.
Tourism remains important, but the town has also experienced economic and social challenges since the decline of mass domestic holidays, prompting ongoing regeneration and investment in waterfront and town-centre projects. Good rail connections along the coast make it easy to reach, and its proximity to Prestatyn and the Clwydian Range gives visitors a choice of coastal and upland excursions.
