Dyffryn Cellwen is a small village in Neath Port Talbot, Wales, tucked into a steep valley on the edge of the old South Wales coalfield. Its setting gives a mix of rolling farmland, wooded slopes and remnants of industrial landscape, with easy access to upland recreation areas such as Afan Forest Park and the Brecon Beacons, making it appealing for walkers and mountain bikers as well as locals who enjoy rural views.
Historically the community was shaped by coal mining and associated industries, and traces of that past remain in former pit sites and working-class terraces; today the local economy is more mixed, with commuting to larger towns, small-scale farming and visitor-led leisure playing a part. Social life still often revolves around village institutions such as the chapel and pub, and there is a quiet pride in Welsh cultural traditions and community events.
