Bronllys is a small rural community in Powys, sitting close to the uplands of the Brecon Beacons National Park and within easy reach of the market towns of Talgarth and Brecon. The setting is characteristically Welsh upland countryside, popular with walkers and riders, with farming and small-scale tourism forming the backbone of the local economy.
Its most striking landmarks are the ruined medieval Bronllys Castle, which looks down over the village, and the distinctive Victorian hospital complex of Bronllys Hospital, both important to local identity. There’s a strong community feel, a mix of historic layers from Norman times to the nineteenth century, and a quiet social life centred on village events and outdoor recreation.
