Llangattock is a small rural parish in Powys, sitting on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and looking down into the Usk Valley. The village is backed by a dramatic limestone escarpment famous with walkers and cavers; notable cave systems such as Ogof y Daren Cilau and Ogof Agen Allwedd lie in the surrounding hills and there are visible traces of old lime‑kilns and quarries on the slopes.
Historically agricultural, the area combines working farms with a modest tourist trade - visitors come for walking, climbing and the quietly scenic lanes - and the community retains a strong local identity centred on its parish church of St Cadoc and nearby market towns such as Crickhowell for services and events. The mix of natural interest, outdoor recreation and rural heritage gives the parish a character typical of borderland communities in the Brecon Beacons.
