Llangynidr is a compact rural settlement in Powys, Wales, sitting in the valley of the River Usk on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The village is framed by limestone escarpments and rolling uplands, and walkers and cyclists often use nearby towpaths and lanes to explore the countryside; the old canals and river routes, including the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, give the area a quietly scenic, water-side character.
Locally it feels very much a farming community with an economy bolstered by tourism - accommodation, outdoor pursuits and a handful of local businesses supporting visitors. There are several historic touches, from a long-standing parish church to a traditional stone bridge, and the village maintains an active social life around its pub, hall and community events, while remaining close to market towns such as Crickhowell for wider services.
