Cymer is an electoral ward in the south Wales Valleys within the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, set in the distinctive steep-sided landscape of the Rhondda Valleys. It occupies a compact stretch of valley with rows of traditional terraced housing, pockets of woodland on the slopes and the river running through the valley floor, giving it a very typical South Wales Valleys feel.
