Pennard is a small village and community on the Gower Peninsula in Swansea, Wales, lying above the wide sandy expanse of Pennard Sands and the dune system of Pennard Burrows. It sits within the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so it’s a magnet for walkers, birdwatchers and beachgoers drawn to its coastal scenery.
The village is notable for the romantic ruins of Pennard Castle, a medieval stronghold partly buried by shifting sands and abandoned centuries ago, and for the links at Pennard Golf Club, which make the most of the windswept dunes. The local economy is largely residential with farming and tourism playing a big part, and residents enjoy sweeping views across Swansea Bay and easy access to the wider Gower coast.
