Fairwood is a largely rural electoral ward on the northern edge of the Gower peninsula within the City and County of Swansea, Wales. It is centred on the open moorland of Fairwood Common and the small Swansea Airport, the latter retaining traces of its past as RAF Fairwood Common from the Second World War.
The ward mixes farmland and scattered villages with strong local community ties, and sits close to the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making walking and other outdoor pursuits popular. Economically it remains rural in character, with some residents commuting into Swansea and the airport supporting light aviation and occasional local events, while the common and historic airfield serve as familiar local landmarks.
