Panteg is a parish in Torfaen, Wales, set on the edge of the valleys between Pontypool and Cwmbran, with the broad sweep of the River Usk not far to the south. A defining local green space is Panteg Park with the old Panteg House, giving a contrast of mature parkland and suburban streets; the area sits within the historic county of Monmouthshire and feels distinctly linked to the wider South Wales Valleys landscape.
Historically the parish grew with late-19th and early-20th century industry - local steel and iron works and good rail and road links supported a working-class population - and traces of that industrial past remain in the built environment and community memory. Today Panteg is largely residential with pockets of light industry and many people commuting to nearby centres such as Newport and Cardiff; community life is anchored by local clubs, churches and events that reflect its industrial roots and evolving suburban character.
