East Aberthaw is a small coastal settlement in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, set on the northern shore of the Bristol Channel. It sits amid a mix of industrial and rural seascape: low cliffs, shingle beaches and saltmarsh give the spot a windswept, scenic feel and make it popular with walkers and birdwatchers, with the Wales Coast Path running close by.
Much of the local character reflects a history of quarrying and cement manufacture and the presence of a nearby power station, so industrial heritage sits alongside small-scale farming and coastal leisure. The settlement is quiet and largely residential, with commuter and social links to nearby places such as Llantwit Major, Rhoose and Cardiff, and on clear days you can see across the channel towards the Somerset coast.
