Bwlchgwyn is a small village on high ground in the county borough of Wrexham in north‑east Wales, often described as one of the highest villages in the country at roughly 350 metres above sea level; it sits on the fringe of the Clwydian Range and commands wide views over the Dee Valley and into Cheshire.
Historically the settlement grew around local quarrying and mining and its Welsh name, literally "white pass", reflects the exposed, sometimes snowy location. Today Bwlchgwyn is mainly residential and something of a commuter village, with a village hall and school, and it’s popular with walkers and mountain bikers heading to nearby Llandegla and the surrounding hills.
