Tanyfron is a small former mining village on the outskirts of Wrexham in north‑east Wales, lying close to the old industrial belt around Brymbo and the Moss Valley. The name means "under the hill" in Welsh and the settlement sits amid former pit workings, patches of greenbelt and hilltop woodland that now provide easy walking and views back towards the town.
Historically built to serve local collieries and later the nearby steelworks, Tanyfron retains a strong working‑class community character, with Victorian and early 20th‑century housing alongside post‑war homes. Today it is largely residential, with many people commuting into Wrexham or neighbouring employment centres, and local life marked by community groups, grassroots sport and the visible legacy of the area's industrial past.
