Rhosllanerchrugog is a large former coal‑mining village and community just west of Wrexham in north‑east Wales. It expanded rapidly in the 19th century with pits and ironworks, leaving a landscape of terraced streets and hilltop rows that look out over the surrounding farmland and the Dee plain.
Despite the decline of heavy industry the area retains a strong Welsh‑language and chapel culture, with choirs, local festivals and a lively community spirit; many residents now commute to Wrexham and nearby towns while small shops and businesses serve the village. Its social history of mining, nonconformity and labour organisation has left a distinct cultural legacy in local institutions and traditions.
