Esclusham is a largely rural civil parish to the west of Wrexham in north-east Wales, stretching from low-lying farmland up onto the moorland of Esclusham Mountain. The area combines rolling fields, wooded valleys and open hilltops that give panoramic views across the Dee Valley, the Cheshire Plain and towards the Berwyns, and it is popular for local walking and wildlife watching.
Historically the parish was shaped by mining and metalworking - notable remains of ironworking and the former colliery around Bersham underline its industrial past - and that heritage is preserved by local groups and small museums. Today it is a mix of commuter villages, farms and small enterprises with a strong community life centred on village halls, chapels and clubs, while industrial archaeology and landscape conservation together define much of its character.
