Bathampton is a small village on the eastern edge of Bath, tucked beside the River Avon where it meets the Kennet and Avon Canal. It lies beneath Bathampton Down and overlooks the open floodplain known as Bathampton Meadows, which provides riverside walks, wildlife habitat and wide views back towards the city. The settlement includes a riverside mill and a historic parish church, with a mix of 18th‑ and 19th‑century houses that reflect the influence of nearby Georgian Bath.
Today Bathampton combines a rural feel with easy access to urban amenities: canal boats, walkers and cyclists are a familiar sight, while farming and conservation keep the meadows as an important green space. The village has an active local life centred on its church and village hall, and many residents commute into Bath or work in the surrounding region, balancing village tranquillity with good transport links.
