Paulton is a village and ward in Bath and North East Somerset, lying on the eastern fringes of Somerset near the Mendip Hills and close to former mining towns such as Radstock and Midsomer Norton. It grew up as part of the Somerset Coalfield, and the landscape still bears traces of that industrial past in old pit sites, colliery cottages and disused railway alignments.
Today Paulton combines a traditional village high street and community facilities with newer housing and small businesses; many residents commute to Bath and Bristol. Local life revolves around the parish church, the primary school, sports clubs (including non-league football) and regular community events, giving the ward a mix of rural character and practical access to nearby urban centres.
