The Hangleton & Knoll electoral ward sits on the western edge of Brighton and Hove, covering the older village area of Hangleton and the largely 20th‑century Knoll estate. It lies a short distance inland from the seafront and the chalk ridges of the South Downs, and is well connected by frequent buses and the nearby A27.
Originally a small farming parish, the ward expanded with large council and private housing developments in the early and mid‑1900s; traces of the older settlement and its parish church can still be spotted amid suburban streets. Today it’s a mixed, family‑oriented community with local shopping parades, community centres and active residents’ groups, while most employment is found in the wider Brighton and Hove economy - particularly in services, hospitality and public sectors.
