Buckden is a compact village and civil parish in Huntingdonshire, Cambridgeshire, in England, set beside the River Great Ouse. Its attractive historic core and stretches of riverside make it popular with walkers and boaters and give the settlement a relaxed, semi-rural feel despite reasonable road and rail links to larger towns.
The place is best known for Buckden Towers, a moated medieval former palace of the Bishops of Lincoln that anchors a wider conservation area and speaks to the village’s long history. Today Buckden combines a largely residential character with small local businesses, a village school and active community groups; many residents commute to nearby towns and cities, while riverside paths, a few pubs and regular local events maintain a traditional village atmosphere.
